Create 2016 is a writing competition designed to encourage and stimulate creativity, improve English language skills and inspire students to become readers and writers. It aims to help children in Hong Kong engage creatively with authors and their books in a meaningful, long-term, and fruitful way.

Sarah Brennan, Yangsook Choi, Bali Rai and Blair Reeve will all be participating in Create 2017.

Guidelines

Participating students will be asked to read a short piece of an author's work (a poem, short story, essay, or excerpt of a longer work) and then to respond creatively to that work. This may mean writing a poem, a work of flash fiction, or a short commentary on the work, or choosing a favorite line in the work and illustrating it. The content of this creative response will depend on the author's background and genre and the student's preferred mode of expression. Students will be encouraged to be imaginative, to think outside the box, and to stretch their writing or illustration skills.
